try autohotkey

Well it's not really a tutorial more a tip. I find using AutoHotkey makes using windows much better. For instance I use a script I downloaded from the site so that I can type things I set up like if I type em a tooltip jumps up where my cursor is and shows the command and I press the tab key and my email address is typed into whatever doc I am in. It can also open web sites, run other scripts, start programs etc. It only uses 2mb running. There are hundreds of other scripts you can download or write one yourself. The language is a bit similar to javascript but it is unique. There is a new version under development that is cross platfrom - I think it's called ironAHK. It is free and the forum is very helpful and friendly.

My big tip would be to download the AutoHotkey Basic version not the Autohotkey_L version the basic version is far more compatible with the majority of scripts you come across, quite a few wont work with the L version. However if you are on LInux or a Mac you will have to try the IronAhk version and might have to get that from the forum, not sure if there is a link on the main page.
