CD/DVD Drive not detected. Empty CD/DVD Drive not detected.

Hey,
I've just installed Windows 7 Ultimate. When I attempted to burn an iso I realised something was up with the DVD drive. It still works perfectly as I dual booted BT4 last night bar the fact that windows doesn't see/recognise the drive. In device manager its not there, tried show hidden devices and lastly ran a microsoft fix it program all to no avail. The results of the "fix it" were that the CD/DVD was not detected.
For clarity I haven't had the need to use the drive in the last week since installing W7 so best guess, it has never worked on my W7.
Any light shed on this problem is greatly appreciated. I see on microsoft.com they offer a solution via registry but its XP and Vista only...

Ok so I've sussed that out, but still can't run burning software aka DVD Flick/Power Iso, it's defo a problem with the registry...The error msg is COMCT232.OCX.

Can you go back into Device Manager and tell us what the dvd is being read as? Like mine is "Optiarc DVD RW AD-7530B ATA Device". What computer do you use, and also is it windows 7 compatable. Did you install windows 7 though this dvd drive? Does it work in your BackTrack?

You could also try this program http://www.halfdone.com/ukd/ it bascially does the same thing as your device manager but copy the uknown device and paste it here.
